About DWTC and Why Hire Approved Auditors?

Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) is a long-established Dubai free zone hosting a wide range of businesses, including FZCOs, branches of UAE companies, and branches of foreign entities. Under DWTCA Regulation 62, every company licensed within the DWTC Free Zone must submit an annual audited financial statement, prepared by an auditor formally recognized by the Authority for technical skill, independence, and experience with UAE free zone compliance. Any DWTC-licensed company preparing its annual financial statements or renewing its trade license needs an auditor from this approved list; reports from unrecognized firms put license renewal at risk.

Audit Requirements for DWTC Companies

  • Annual financial statements must be prepared under IFRS and audited according to International Standards of Auditing by a DWTC-approved auditor
  • Audit reports are commonly submitted within 90 days after the company’s financial year end, though the Authority may also request the report specifically at license renewal
  • Audit reports must confirm whether the accounts follow accepted accounting standards, with any deviation from Free Zone standards clearly identified
  • The Federal Tax Authority may separately review these reports to confirm UAE Corporate Tax compliance
  • Non-submission can result in penalties, delayed license renewal, or suspension of operations under DWTCA Circular No. 15 of 2023

Documents Required for DWTC Audit Submission

  • Valid trade license, Memorandum and Articles of Association
  • Trial balance and general ledger for the financial year
  • Bank statements and reconciliations
  • Sales and purchase invoices with supporting contracts
  • Tenancy or office agreement
  • Prior year audited financial statements, where applicable
