About DAFZA and Why Hire Approved Auditors?

DAFZA (Dubai Airport Free Zone Authority) sits beside Dubai International Airport and is home to companies in aviation, technology, media, logistics, and professional services. Under DAFZA’s regulations, every registered company must appoint an auditor from DAFZA’s approved list to examine its financial records and confirm compliance with the free zone’s rules. Any DAFZA-licensed company preparing its annual financial statements or renewing its trade license needs an auditor from this approved panel; audit reports prepared by firms outside the list are not accepted by the authority.

Audit Requirements for DAFZA Companies

  • Annual financial statements must be prepared under IFRS and audited by a DAFZA-approved auditor
  • Audited financial statements must generally be submitted within 90 days (three months) of the company’s financial year-end
  • Submission is made through the DAFZA Client Portal, and DAFZA may also request the report specifically at trade license renewal
  • Accounting records should be retained for at least six years from the date they were created
  • Late or missing submissions can affect regulatory services and delay or block trade license renewal

Documents Required for DAFZA Audit Submission

  • Valid trade license and Memorandum of Association
  • Trial balance and general ledger for the financial year
  • Bank statements and reconciliations
  • Sales and purchase invoices
  • VAT returns, for VAT-registered companies
  • Payroll records and fixed asset register, where applicable
